GS upgrades Maersk on 'relatively better' 2027 outlook
BUZZ-GS upgrades Maersk on 'relatively better' 2027 outlook ** Goldman Sachs upgrades Danish shipping company A.P. Moeller-Maersk MAERSKb.CO to "neutral" from "sell" as supply-demand outlook for 2027 seems less negative
** The brokerage now sees ramp up in expected vessel delivery to be later and shallower
** It attributes this to engine-related delays caused by rising data centre demand for diesel generators creating supply chain bottlenecks
** GS notes that if the "much anticipated container bear market only starts in autumn-27", the main negative catalyst on the stock is still more than a year away
** Also, in its view, allocating close to two-thirds of the group capital expenditure budget to buying container vessels at elevated prices is not the most optimal strategy for Maersk
** Ahead of Maersk H1 report due on Aug 7, GS raises its full-year EBITDA estimate to about $10 bln due to stronger summer trading
** Its estimate for the shipper's Q2 EBITDA remains unchanged at about $2 bln EBITDA, marginally below Visible Alpha Consensus
** One out of 24 analysts covering the stock rates it "buy", nine "hold", 14 "sell"/"strong sell" — LSEG data
** Shares were up 3% at 0750 GMT, among top gainers on STOXX 600 index .STOXX
